Do you have these days? Because if you do, it is okay!
We are all human, we are all going to have days that may not be as good as the previous. Just remember, having a bad day means that you are going to appreciate the good ones even more.
Last week, I woke up and decided that I just did not want to deal with people, I did not want to be sociable and I just did not want to communicate with anybody. As soon as I was up I knew that it was not going to be a good day and I then thought ‘that’s okay’. Aren’t we all allowed to have days where we just want to be on our own, where we just want to put everything on hold and just be ourselves?
In the current world that we live in there are a lot of expectations on people, we look at these ‘perfect’ lifestyles people have on social media. Just to let you in on a secret, their worlds aren’t perfect and they have bad days! You do not have to wake up every morning and complete a workout and drink your coffee whilst eating avocado and egg on toast. You do not have to put on a full face of make-up and make sure every strand of hair is perfect. You do not have to make sure that your under wear is matching. You do not have to wear a pair of designer shoes.
If you want to, you can lay in bed for as long as you please. If you want, you can stick your hair up in a messy bun that looks like a giant pineapple on your head. If you want, you can stick on a sports bra and pair of sweaters. If you want, you don’t even have to wear a bra at all. If you want, you can stick on a pair of trainers. If you want, you can just each chocolate and doughnuts instead of meals.
Who is to tell us how we need to dress or eat when we don’t even want to get out of bed and talk to people.
I would love to meet a human being who can wake up everyday and not get stressed, not feel tired or never lose motivation. We are all humans who are designed to have different emotions and some days are just those ‘bad days’. Most of us spend at least 5 days a week working, followed by additional commitments, so we are all prone to these days.
I asked a number of people on twitter what they tend to do when they are having bad days.
I practice good self-care. Obviously I have a whole Temple Spa related answer to this but putting that to one side I find that setting aside some quiet time and losing myself in a book or movie or album helps. It is very important to make space for yourself. – @meltemplespa
Everyone has bad days, and its completely normal to be stuck in a rut and have more than one bad day in a row. To get over my bad days, I binge on my favourite series i.e Gilmore Girls or How I Met Your Mother’, have a bar of my favourite treat and forget the calories exist, and call my most loved person, whether that is my boyfriend, my mum or my best friend. A familiar voice always brings a smile to my face. – @abistreetx
As you can see, people tend to deal with bad days in different ways but it is obvious that there are ways to deal with them. If you see somebody having a bad day, give them a smile, ask them if they want a hand and if they want to be left alone then leave them alone.
