Crochet: New Born Baby Hat

This is a basic baby hat for a new born baby that is a great pattern for people who are beginners! Enjoy!!

Abbreviations

ch = chain
hdc = half double crochet
sl st = slip stitch

Note: Ch 2 at beginning of round, does not count as stitch.

Beginning at crown ch.3.
Round 1: 8 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Join with slip sl st to first hdc.
Round 2: Ch 2. 2 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to rst hdc. (16)
Round 3: Ch 2. *2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in next hdc. Repeat from * around. Join with sl st to rst hdc. (24)
Round 4: Ch 2. *2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 2 hdc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to rst hdc. (32)
Round 5: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to rst hdc. 40 (40)
Round 6: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc around. Join with sl st to rst hdc. (40)
Repeat round 6 until the hat measures approximately 11cm.
Last Round: Ch 1. 1 single crochet (sc) in each hdc around. Join with sl st to rst sc. Fasten off.
