How You Can Go Self Hosted!

It was only in the past few weeks that I decided that I finally wanted to go self hosted and it is the best thing that I ever decided to do! Of course you do not need to go self-hosted to become a blogger as you can sign up on WordPress or blogger. Yet, below I am going to show you how easy it actually is! Why I chose SiteGround!

Before I went self-hosted I did a lot of searching on different sites, especially social media to try and find the perfect site to use. I finally stumbled upon and realised that you do NOT need to spend a lot to become self-hosted and you do NOT need to spend a lot to use a decent hosting site. The best thing I found on this site was the 24/7 live chat – which I used constantly when I was setting up- there is no need to have to fill in loads of useless information as all they want is the basics! Also, if you want a website that will get set up and running and will work just as quick when other people use it then this is the hosting site for you!

How to get set up!

Step 1 – Choose your plan

SiteGround has three plans available for you to choose from. The StartUp plan is great if you are just looking for something to test out whilst you get to grips with the self-hosted process. This is the plan I decided to go for as I only need one website to blog from.

There is no need to worry though, if you get into your blogging and decide you want to produce more than one website then you can move up to the GrowBig plan and also gives you that extra boost of speed for your website.

If you then become a blogging sensation or know that you want the best subscription then you would go for the GoGeek plan which is perfect for those with e-commerce and larger sites or the more geeky development needs like staging and GIT integration.

Step 2 – Choose a domain

I found this the most difficult part as I wanted to create a new domain and struggled to decide what I wanted to name my blog. Apart from the decision making, this is probably the easiest part as all you have to do is decide whether you want to set up a new domain or use an existing one.

Step 3 – Review and Complete

This is the part that makes signing up a lot easier. When you get to this point it shows everything that you have added into your basket and the BEST part – you are able to get the low price for the one year period and this price increases conversions greatly in comparison to other providers where the lowest monthly price only applies for the longest period. (You will understand this more when you are completing your payment!

My Experience!

I have got to say that I was ridiculously impressed when I was signing up as I actually signed up in less than 10 minutes (would of been shorter if I knew what my domain name was). Do not let all these different sites (especially the cheap ones) convince you to sign up to a hosting site that isn’t going to protect you or don’t just go for an expensive site because you think your going to get the best because SiteGround can do this without the ridiculous bill!
