My Experience With Microdermabrasion (so far!)

There is no denying that I have bad skin, at the age of 24 my skin represent a hormonal 15 year old! I haven’t always had bad skin – it probably start in my late teens. I have been put on tablet, I have been given cream and tried a number of different facial but they all just seem make it worse.

It wasn’t until a couple of months ago I receive a groupon email about different skincare treatments and I saw one for microdermabrasion and decided to do a little more research and this is what I found:

Microdermabrasion – Is a safe procedure which gently sands and exfoliates your skin using a diamond tip wands combined with vaccum suction.

The wand tip is made of natural diamond chips which polish the skin and remove dead cells and are then vaccumed back into a waste filter.

Microdermabrashion is a quick and painless treatment that acclerates the rate at which dead skin is exfoliated and jump starts the rejeneration of new skin cells.

Microdermabrasion treats :Acne, sun damaged spots, hyperpigmentation, dryness, fine lines, wrinkles, and even minor scars.

I decided why not give it a try?

During my first session I was quite shocked at how it felt – the only way I can describe it is like having a mini vacuum going over your face (but it feels shockingly good). At the end of the session my face was fairly red and inflamed which was expected and it didn’t take long for the redness to go down. Within a few days the acne that I did have had dried out and pretty much disappeared. The scaring didn’t seem so fierce so I felt hopeful over this treatment.

After my second session the result were pretty much the same, the majority of my acne had vanished and the scaring had started to fade down. My pores wasn’t clogged up like they usually are and my skin just constantly felt cleanse (even after wearing make-up).

I have now had three session of microdermabrasion and my skin feels incredible, I hardly have any acne (apart from the odd appearances) and my scaring has really faded, some of it gone completely and the rest are now dull and no longer red and inflamed whenever I go outside.

Before and After!

The before pictures below (in the small boxes in the corner) were taken the day before my first treatment and the after pictures were taken the day after my third session which means that my skin was still slightly red and inflamed from the treatment but that has now gone down.

A lot of people probably wouldn’t think that there is a hug different and that my skin doesn’t look like it has improved but there in person you can see such a difference in the texture of my skin, my pores and my acne.

I am somebody who isn’t confident with my skin and it has taken me a lot to upload these pictures but from the results I am seeing I am confident that soon I will be confident in my own skin.

What next?

I am now starting a treatment of both microdermabrasion and micro-needling over the course of the next few months. I am hoping to update the blog with process.

If you yourself suffer the way I do then this is something that I would definitely recommend doing!

I think that that is amazing progress, thank you for sharing your experience! I had a problem with hormonal acne in my early twenties, but I am thankful that it has subsided now. I remember the feeling of insecurity that it gave me though, and it can be so hard to deal with, so it’s great that you have found something that is effective. Looking forward to seeing your progress! 🙂 x

I really want to try microderm because I have post-acne scarring and I’m hoping that it will help fade the scars, and this gives me hope with that!
