Book Review: The Stylist

So I quite recently went on a little trip to the seaside and found a cut little shop called ‘The Book and Puzzle’ which I can actually ay is the best shop I have come across in quite a while. Whilst my Nan was on the hunt for some good Wordsearch books she could complete in the caravan, I found myself captivated by the fiction shelves that covered the one wall.  The books in the shop were all £2.00 each or 3 for £5.00 and that is something that I am not going to say no too!

Summary

As the title suggests, this book is based a lot on fashion. With a woman in her late twenties fed up of hearing the question ‘what is it you do?’ Amber Green can finally give them an answer when she stumbles across the world famous stylist Mona Armstrong. With the Golden Globes, a couple of Hollywoods hottest and craziest starlets and a couple of men who have caught the eye of the beautiful Miss Green. Is she able to keep Mona’s name going as the greatest stylist to the stars or is she going to throw her under the bridge?

Thoughts

It didn’t take me long to get into this book as I read it within two days (which is very unlike me). I felt like I could relate to Amber Green in many ways, a young twenty something year old woman who wasn’t quite sure where her career was heading and wasn’t looking for love buy wouldn’t say no if the right man came along.

I found that there were many points throughout the book where I would get frustrated as Amber was finding herself in situations that she didn’t actually need to be in and would do anything to keep her new ‘boss’ happy. I adored how much Amber was determined and even though everybody was waiting for her to fail all she ever wanted to do was to show that she was more than capable.

If you are looking for a book to read whilst lying in the sun next to the hotel pool, then this is a book that I would recommend you to read!

Rating

This is the first book that I’ve read in quite a while where I’ve not been able to put the book down without knowing the full outcome of whether or not Amber succeeds. I would give this book an 8/10 – I would of rated the book a 9 if there was a little more speech so that you were able to get a better understanding of the relationships between the characters.

What Next?

I was also able to purchase the second book ‘Amber Green takes Manhattan’ from ‘The Book and Puzzle’ so that is going to be my next read and I’m hoping that it does not disappoint!

The Stylist is currently on offer at Amazon for £2.00 of the paper back, this can be found below!
