I want to first state that I am no doctor. These techniques are what I use and know have worked for myself and others. It has been less that a year since I was told by the doctors that I suffered and I have found many ways to control my own anxiety.
There are a number of different things that you could stop doing and also many things that you could start doing. It can be very difficult to manage your mental health and there is no denying that I struggled at first. I did not want medication to mange my panic attacks as I knew that I was able manage them myself without them.
There are so many different mental health illnesses that it can be hard to find a way to manage them all. I’ve found managing my panic attacks has become quite simple for myself. This could be a difficult for those that may have severe anxiety or depression. This is where you may just need professional help. Though, some of these may health to manage them a little so they are not so severe.
I personally feel like self-care is the start to managing your anxiety. There are different kinds of self-care, there is self-care for the mind, body and soul. Starting to practice self-care is a lot simpler than most would predict. I was never one to practice self care but it is something that I would suggest to those who suffer with a mental health illness.
This one works great for me, I don’t know if it would help other though. I find that I cannot say no to people 80% of the time. Yet, if it means I am helping someone I feel the need to do it. Once I have helped some, no matter how big or small, I tend to just feel so happy and proud of myself. Giving somebody a helping hand with serious will you with so much joy. No matter how big or small people are also happy to be given a helping hand.
People tend think that this is more for you physical health but it works both ways. If you do not drink enough water and cause your body to not be hydrated enough, it can mess with you hormones. Hormones are a big cause of anxiety so not drinking enough water can screw these up.
Set A Routine
I find that I am less anxious during the week as I am in my routine for work and the gym but as soon as it comes to the weekend and I do not have a routine in place I tend to become more anxious. Having yourself a routine set means that you mind is aware of what is happening and approximately when it should be happening.
Having small goals set throughout the week or month can give your a positive mind set. Achieving these small goals will help you to reach a larger goal. Having that sense of achievement will lower the anxiety give you positive thoughts. Aiming for these goals will give yourself something to work towards to help lessen that anxiety.
