It’s that time of year where I take a trip to the Book & Puzzle shop in Burnham. This time I found a couple of books by Trisha Ashley. The first one I read is called Sowing Secrets. It looked like it was going to be similar to The Big Dreams Beach Hotel.
Fran is a single mother who lives in the idyllic village of St Ceridwen’s Well. She has been able to keep secret who her daughter, Rosie’s, father is. When she starts asking more questions Fran tells her the truth of not actually knowing the man who fathered her daughter.
With a husband constantly working away and changing his personality, will Fran be able to save her married whilst also keeping her daughters father a secret? A celebrity gardener comes to film a show in the village and brings back many memories for Fran. Will she be able to keep these secrets hidden or will poison-letters going around the village spill all of her secrets?
I’m actually glad that I found this book in the little book shop. This book was rather exciting, there was always something happening and somebody else arriving on the scene. This is a great feel good book to read on a rainy day or when you are sunbathing on the beach. The book was really easy to read whilst also so well written. You were able to connect with the characters in this book. Even when they were being put down for how they looked.
I have already purchased more books that are by the same author and I’m hoping to read some more before the end of the summer. I think I loved this book because it is written in first person. You are able to really connect with Fran and understand her as you are reading from her point of view.
I would rate this book an 8/10. It was a good holiday book and I am looking forward to read ‘Every Woman for Herself’ that is also by Trisha Ashley.
