I have previously spoke about practising self-care for the mind and the body. I have decided to share 8 more ways to practice self-care. These practices can help with the mind, the body and also the soul.
Meditation is something that I highly recommend to everyone. I only started meditating about 6 months ago and it is something I now find time to do this regularly. Meditation is the greatest way to clear the mind and this will also help with caring for the body. Meditation has so many psychical and psychological benefits.
Helping someone, doesn’t matter whether you know them or not, can be one of the greatest achievements. Doesn’t matter whether it is helping an old lady across the street with her shopping or just helping a relative to complete some jobs around the house. Making peoples lives easy by offering a helping hand is a great way to practice for your own self-care.
Become A Volunteer!
This is one that you do not need to do often. Maybe once every couple of months or even a couple times a year. A lot of people wouldn’t do this one, but like the previous suggestion it can really help boost your self-esteem by helping others. Volunteering can actually be quite simple, take a trip to a local pet shelter and take a dog for a walk, go to a caring home and sit and talk to somebody lonely who doesn’t receive visitors, go to a hospital and read to children. The possibilities are endless when it comes too volunteering.
Cuddle With An Animal!
Cuddling my dog is one of my favourite things to do. My puppy is very clingy and loves to be near you especially when he is tired. So when he is tired I am more than happy to snuggle him. This doesn’t just comfort the dog but also myself. It is shocking how many studies have shown that pets are a great way to practice self-care. Don’t have a pet? Do as I mentioned previously, go to a local pet shelter and play with some dogs and take them a walk. It is shocking how much animals can help you.
Spend Time With Loved Ones!
Friends, family, pets… no matter who you class as a loved one, spending time with them is great for the mind and soul. Being with loved ones means you are able to spend time having long conversations. It doesn’t matter what the of conversation you are having, positives or negative, talking to a loved one and spending times with them is just as good as going to see a therapist.
Even though technological was designed to make our lives easier, nobody seems to be slowing down any but spending up. Sometimes you just need to sit down, even just for five minutes, and take some time to breathe. This can be at home or even at work. Remember you are only human and there is only so much your are capable of doing.
Spend Quiet Time Alone!
As well as spending time with your loved ones, it is also important to spend some quiet time alone. You only need to spend a small amount of time alone to practice self-care but don’t spend too much time alone else you will just end up becoming lonely.
