I don’t know why I feel the need to talk about personal body insecurities. They are something that everybody suffers with, well most anyway. I find it really strange that even now in 2019 we are looking at ourselves in the mirror and still not being happy with what we see.
I have always been someone who is insecure about the way they look. I don’t know if it is just me who hate the way I look or if other people look at me and think ‘she’s too short’ ‘her cheeks are too chubby’ ‘she needs to lose a bit of weight’. But then I sit and think, why on earth would people care? I think I am my own worst enemy when it comes to how I look.
I know that if I eat a big packet of crisps I am going to regret it afterwards but yet I still do it. I know what food I should be eating to be happy and healthy but I still don’t do it. Unfortunately I have no will power when it comes to food so I am always going to feel insecure about my body.
I have been this way since I was a teenager except I was a lot worse back then. If I had eaten a piece of cake or packet of crisps, I wouldn’t eat for the rest of the day. At least now when I feel like I have eaten way more then I should have, I know that I need to do better the next day. Cut out the crap, eat better food. Go to the gym. It’s always going to be the same with me and unfortunately the only person who can help me, is me!
MOST COMMON BODY INSECURITIES!
I was quite shocked when I looked up peoples biggest insecurities. I always thought that the answer would be their size and their body but actually the most common was the nose. I am not a fan of plastic surgery but at least people who hate their noses know that they can pay and have it changed to how they like. Unfortunately though, people have this procedure done and then realise that they are still not happy with the way that they look.
On the top of the list, was stretch marks. I can 100% agree with this one. Stretch marks are something that many people will suffer with and is actually something that is ver normal. I hate my stretch marks and always think they look really bad but others tell me they can hardly see them. The problem we have now is that stretch marks are a natural thing for the body, no matter what shape and size you are.
Body hair is also one that I can relate to. I just find it overly annoying. I’m not so much insecure about it until the summer or when I go one holiday. It’s easy to get rid of body hair; shave, wax, laser. Body hair appears on everyone, whether you are male or female. It is up to you if you want to spend a ridiculous amount of money to laser it off or if you just want to embrace the natural beauty of body hair.
SOCIAL MEDIAS IMPACT
We are currently living in a world that is being run and controlled by social media. This means that we are constantly searching for things that we want to see. I am terrible at this, I follow so many fitness, fashion and beauty accounts that I find myself comparing how I look to them. There is no reason we should be comparing our lives to them. The models that we follow and are envious of get paid to look that way. They get paid to eat a certain diet and spend hours at the gym.
Those fashion influencers that we want to dress like and wear all the designer clothes, get paid to wear those clothes and post them. Majority of the time they do not actually buy these clothes. In all honesty you can get dupes of those outfits online for a lot cheaper. We also have to remind ourselves that these influencers are portraying a different life. They aren’t always walking down fancy London streets wearing knee high boots. They aren’t alway out at cafes drinking coffee. Majority of the time they probably end up with a cold coffee by the time they have taken all of their pictures.
