Unless you have been living under a rock you be aware of the new TV series You on Netflix. I have always been a big fan of series on Netflix especially Netflix originals. I am a huge fan of Orange is the New Black and 13 Reasons Why. (Warning this post may contain spoilers if you have not seen You).
After watching the first episode, I was left feeling a little creeped out. Not sure whether or not I wanted to watch this series, I couldn’t help but carry on watching to see what happened. But as each episode went on I found that I was left with more and more unanswered questions.
Why did Beck never close her curtains?
This was something that really did bother me. If you were living in an apartment on the first floor with giant windows, why would you not have curtains or blinds? It didn’t matter what she was doing, Joe was able to see her. Whether she was getting changed, having sex with another man or touching herself, Joe was able to watch her. As well as Joe watching her, how did she never spot Joe outside her window? He didn’t actually hide that well so why was she never able to spot him?
Why did Ethan never go into the basement?
After working in the store so long, how did Ethan not spot what was going on? Whether it was just the way his character was or he was just extremely dopey, you would have thought Ethan would have questioned more about the basement. Joe was always sneaking off down there and would spend hours upon hours down there but was never questioned. Yes okay he had a job to do and he would sometimes spend time down there fixing books but he didn’t have enough first editions to fix down there.
Why did they never find his fingerprint?
No matter whose house he snuck into, he never wore gloves. He would touch anything and everything! How were his fingerprints not found in the house where Peach was found. If the family were so concerned that she didn’t commit suicide why didn’t they check for prints? He was never known to be in the house so he would easily be caught.
Was he doing good through the bad?
Everything that he did he had a reason for. Did he really only hurt people who hurt the ones he loved? Was Benji taken away because he saw all the bad that he had done and believed that he was doing right by getting rid of him? Peach was obsessed with Beck, Joe thought that Becks was better off without her. He believed Becks would be better off without these people in her life. Yet, protecting her only ended up with him getting rid of her.
Is this going to make people realise how easy stalkers are?
It didn’t take Joe long to get his hands on Becks phone. He was even quicker in tracking down her every move and being where she was 24/7. I really hope that this series helps people realise how easy it is to access somebodies life. Whether they are tracking them on social media or cloning their Icloud to read every message they send.
Have you watched ‘You’? If so do you have any theories or questions about what happened?
